I'm Ellen. For me, urban homesteading is an attitude more than a strict list of do's and don'ts. I love reading about people who do far more than I can do on my small suburban plot. The "back to the land movement" (of which there have been several!) is a fascinating topic. Every book I read expands my ideas, although I'm only able to implement a few small ideas. I grow a nice vegetable garden, have about 14 fruit trees, and do a small bit of canning.
Still the ideas... the simple living and self-sufficiency ideas... are ones I find most attractive. I created this site as a way of writing about one of my favorite topics and to guide others to some great ideas, resources, books, and more.
If you'd like to contact me, please send an email. I'd love to hear from you.
Other Sites
I have a few other web sites visitors here may be interested in. While I am going to be adding more cooking resources and recipes here that are focused on canning, preserving, and homegrown food, I also have a cooking site focused on cheap and easy recipes.
Because I run my own business out of my home, I also started a blog about running a small business and being self-employed.
And lastly, because I read a lot, I started a book blog to try to remember what I read!
